Cole stroked Tina’s hair as she slept. When Zack made it to bed, he looked at Cole expectantly.

“You know I don’t want her to go back to work, and especial y not working nights.” Cole continued stroking her hair.

“I know, but you have to let her live her life, Cole, or you’re going to drive her away. This is one time you’ve got to curb your dominant streak and give her some room.”

Zack ran a finger up and down her arm as if he couldn’t get enough of touching her either. Cole needed that touch to reassure him she was there by his side.

“I want to take her at the same time tomorrow, Zack. I need to see that look in her eyes when she’s total y sated.”

“I’m too thick for her ass right now, Cole. You’re going to have to take her ass the first couple of times. That is if she lets us,” Zack cautioned him.

“She wil . I think she trusts us to care for her,” Cole said.

“You going to be okay with her working or are you going to be an asshole and piss her off?” Zack asked.

“I’l hold off, for now. As long as she stays with us, I’l feel comfortable that she’s safe here. We have a good alarm system.”

“Why are you so worried, Cole?”

“That bastard is going to come after her, Zack. If he finds out where she is, he wil have to. You saw that other girl. She was the spitting image of Tina.

He’s obsessed with her looks. She got away and he won’t be able to stand it.”

“Fuck. You’re always right. Now I don’t want to take that job.”

“If we hang around with her, she’s going to balk at staying here. Even I know that much.”

“I love her, Cole. I guess you know that.”

“I know. I do, too. That’s why I’m so possessive of her. I’m scared to death something’s going to happen to her.” Cole placed a kiss on her forehead and settled down to go to sleep.

In his dream, she was running from someone and he couldn’t find her. He ran as hard as he could but always they were just out of reach. Zack ran beside him as they reached a corner only to find that she’d disappeared. He could hear her cal ing for them.

“Zack, where is she?” he asked.

“I can’t see her. I can hear her, but I don’t know where she is.”

“We have to find her before that bastard hurts her.” Cole began to run again toward an al ey with Zack right behind him.

They got to the end of the al ey and found her lying in the dirt, bloody and lifeless.

Cole went to his knees and cried out, “No!”

Zack turned around and hit the brick wal with his fist. “I’l kil him when I find him.”

“No, he’s mine.” Cole picked Tina up and carried her out of the al ey to their house. He laid her on the bed staring into her eyes.
